All About Aryna Sabalenka’s CEO Boyfriend, Georgios Frangulis

On August 29, Aryna Sabalenka witnessed a proposal at the U.S. Open and when she was grilled about it in a post-game interview, her boyfriend Georgios Frangulis came to mind. Sabalenka had just won against Leylah Fernandez in her third-round match, and joked with reporters that the engagement was very cute, but she was just trying to focus on the game.

“I think it’s the first time that someone proposed during my match,” she said. “It was a very sweet moment, but I was just trying not to start smiling, because it's very cute and I believe they’re super happy right now.”

When the press asked if she hoped “somebody else in the crowd got some ideas,” she replied, “I don’t want this kind of proposal. But I looked at my boyfriend. Yeah. No pressure.”

So who is the top ranked women’s tennis player’s boyfriend? Here’s everything to know about Oakberry CEO Georgios Frangulis.

Frangulis was raised in Brazil, but comes from a Greek family: his grandfather, Georgios, emigrated from Thessaloniki, though his father, Eleftherios, was born in Brazil as well. But his ancestry is very important to him, according to his February 2025 profile in the Greek Herald.

“I can say we were always a Greek family, in how we see the world, our values, and the way I was raised. I feel 100% Greek,” he explained.

He became very successful via his acai bowl company, Oakberry. He shared that he went to law school with the intention of being a lawyer, but realized he was “an entrepreneur at heart.”

“I always knew I would build a business and create something that would bring joy and good things to people,” he added.

Oakberry began in Brazil, but took off massively in the United States. In 2023, the company raised $67 million in capital, according to a post on Traded: Venture Capital’s Instagram.

Frangulis is also an avid race car enthusiast, and once dreamed of being a driver and owning a Formula 1 team. He has even competed in 128 races at the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, per Driver Database.

“I end up splitting my time between tennis matches, Oakberry, and racetracks,” he explained. And he does indeed seem to be by Sabalenka’s side much of the time.

In January 2024, she even became a brand ambassador for Oakberry.

“Aryna Sabalenka is a great example of the future of tennis and we are working closely with her to create some really exciting things over the years,” Frangulis said. “We can’t wait for our fans to get involved!"

In April 2024, the pair were seen together for the first time. Sabalenka’s late boyfriend, ice hockey player boyfriend Konstantin Koltsov, died of suicide a month earlier. In an August 2024 interview with People, Sabalenka shared how Frangulis supported her during her grief, saying, “There was a really tough period where I was really happy to have him by my side, always cheering me up, always making sure that we are doing some fun stuff.”

She wished him a happy birthday in September of that year, writing on Instagram, “Happy birthday meu amor, I’m so lucky to have you by my side. Your support is priceless 🦖🐒❤️💜❤️.”
