Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have been married for 19 years but are now taking some time apart. People confirmed that the couple has separated.

A source told the outlet, “Nicole’s sister has been a rock and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another.”

They added, “She didn’t want this. She has been fighting to save the marriage.”

TMZ first reported the news. Multiple sources told the outlet that the couple has been living apart “since the beginning of summer,” and revealed that Kidman has been working to repair the relationship.

Kidman and Urban married in June 2006 and share two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. Their love story began 20 years ago, in 2005.

In January 2019, Kidman spoke to People about the moment she realized in June 2005 that Urban was her great love. “It was my [38th] birthday, and he stood outside with gardenias at 5 A.M. on my stoop in New York,” she recalled. “That is when I went, ‘This is the man I hope I get to marry.’ I believed by that point he was the love of my life.”

Urban, for his part, credited Kidman for helping him begin his sobriety journey.

In September 2020, he spoke on the Armchair Expert podcast about Kidman: “She’s just the one. She’s the one that I was searching for my whole life, and everything not only changed but had to change in me if I was gonna go that road.”

He added, “It was like the ultimate fork in the road moment in my life, and it was literally like you either get this right now or you are never, ever gonna get it right. This is your one shot. It felt so obvious.”

In March 2024, Kidman told ELLE that she cherishes her family life: “I have a very full life with people that I love. I’m raising daughters. I’m a wife, I’m a best friend. I’m a sister, I’m an aunt. I have deeply intimate relationships with people. And that, to me, is the meaning of life—and then taking care of what we leave behind, who we leave behind and how we do that, and our sense of respect for that.”
