Selena Gomez and Travis Kelce Celebrate Taylor Swift Owning Her Album Masters

On Friday, Taylor Swift announced she was finally able to buy the masters to her first six albums, which she has been slowly re-recording after they were purchased by Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings LLC in June 2019. The masters then went to Shamrock Capital, who have now sold them back to Swift. Not only is the Eras Tour star celebrating, so are her friends.
Swift’s bestie, Selena Gomez, shared a shot of Swift in her Instagram Stories with her album covers for Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, Reputation, writing over it, “YES you did that Tay, SO proud.”

Swift’s boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, liked Swift’s post with the announcement immediately, which read in the caption, “You belong with me. Letter on my site :)”
The letter on the Grammy winner’s site was from Swift, and it explained how the albums had come back into her possession.
“All of the music I’ve ever made now belongs...to me,” she wrote. “And all my music videos. And all the concert films. The album art and photography. The unreleased songs. The memories. The magic. The madness. Every single era. My entire life’s work.”
She continued, “The passionate support you showed those albums and the success story you turned The Eras Tour into is why I was able to buy back my music. I can’t thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to, but have never owned until now.”
Before Swift was able to make this claim, she released new recordings of Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version), and 1989 (Taylor’s Version). However, she had not yet shared a re-recording of Reputation, though fans had expected it this year.
A source speaking with People shared that rumors Braun helped move the deal along were untrue.
“Contrary to a previous false report, there was no outside party who ‘encouraged’ this sale,” said the insider. “All rightful credit for this opportunity should go to the partners at Shamrock Capital and Taylor’s Nashville-based management team only. Taylor now owns all of her music, and this moment finally happened in spite of Scooter Braun, not because of him.”
