Simu Liu and Fiancée Allison Hsu’s Complete Relationship Timeline
Over the last few years, Simu Liu’s relationship with Interscope Records’ Allison Hsu has grown by leaps and bounds. The Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings actor said in September 2022 that he was “going through a breakup,” and by November of that year, he and Hsu were on her Instagram timeline. In May 2025, Liu revealed he proposed, and she said yes.
Throughout their history, the couple has enjoyed tropical vacations, time with family, and holidays together. Here’s their complete relationship timeline so far.
At the Dreamforce 2022 conference in San Francisco, Liu told Entertainment Tonight about his breakup, adding, “I’m okay, I’m okay.”
“I’m learning to prioritize myself, I’m becoming more and more comfortable with the idea of therapy and support systems,” he added. “It really just hit me recently just how burnt out I was. I experienced moments where I’m living my dream, and it didn’t quite feel like I was where I needed to be with myself. I’m also going through a breakup. That’s probably also contributing to it, but that’s okay, I’ll be okay.”
On November 20, Hsu posted a very suggestive photo of herself with Liu with only a smiley face emoticon in the caption.
Just a little over a week after going Instagram official, they were debuted their relationship on the red carpet for the premiere of Violent Night. Liu shared the picture of them on the red carpet just a few days later on Instagram.
At the beginning of December, People confirmed their relationship. They also shared pictures of a gorgeous vacation together full of adorable shots.
And Liu shares a tribute to his “breathtaking” girlfriend.
They hit the red carpet again for Unforgettable: The 20th Annual Asian American Awards, where People asked Liu about Hsu. He was happy to gush about his girlfriend.
“She’s a badass, she’s a fighter, and she’s very, very passionate about all things in life, her work, her job, and her other things,” he said. “And that’s a language that I speak very well, and I am happy to see where it goes.”
On December 21, they attended a game together in Los Angeles.
Before heading to Taiwan to enjoy the holidays, Liu said they were going there to do “the whole family thing and meeting the parents thing.” He added that “no matter who you are and where you come from or anything like that, is a stressful time.”
But it looks like it was fun.
Liu shared a photo of himself at a roller rink that he attributed to Hsu, quoting her in the caption as saying, “babe i just took the hottest picture of you that ever existed.”
Hsu commented on the post, “you’re welcome everyone.”
Later that month, he celebrated V-Day with cute pics, writing, “happy valentine’s day babe sorry i couldn’t make the eagles win.”
In March, Liu shared a series of black and white photos he took with Hsu, writing, “Photodump but make it art.”
They also attended the 2023 Green Carpet Fashion Awards at NeueHouse Hollywood.
While promoting his new romantic movie One True Loves, Liu said that Hsu will “definitely watch it.”
“The jury’s still out as to how we’ll feel about it,” he added. “But, it’s always an interesting predicament that actors find themselves in.”
He also celebrate his birthday on April 19 with his girl, thanking her for everything.
“i know they say that the greatest gift to receive on your birthday is the company of friends and loved ones… but that’s bullshit,” he wrote. “it’s definitely an electric guitar and a cake with your single art on it. thanks babe :)”
The couple attended the hotly anticipated premiere of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie in Los Angeles.
The actor wished his girlfriend a happy birthday with a loving message on Instagram, writing, “happy birthday to the girl who truly does it all. she inspires me in her passion for music (well… one musician specifically), teaches me how to balance a busy and chaotic schedule with grace, and touches me in how she cares for each and every person in her life. most importantly, she shows me that the people we love are always worth fighting for.”
He continued, “i love you to pieces babe. whether we’re on another crazy trip to god-knows-where for who-knows-what, or just binging our way through friends at home, there’s simply nothing better than holding your hand. thanks for never giving up on me.”
She commented, “King of my heart.”
A few days later, Liu shared photos of himself and Hsu wearing matching Tiffany bracelets, writing, “home is where you are”
On November 16, Liu gave Hsu a kiss on the cheek at the 2023 GQ Men Of The Year red carpet at Bar Marmont.
A month later, they shared a little more PDA at the 21st Annual Unforgettable Gala in Beverly Hills, California.
The pair attended the 81st Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Jan. 7, 2024.
Two days later, they took in a basketball game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Toronto Raptors.
Liu and Hsu were at the 2024 Spotify Best New Artist Party at Paramount Studios on February 1.
On Valentine’s Day, he wrote her a sweet message on Instagram.
On the 18th, they went to the 2024 People’s Choice Awards in Santa Monica, California.
The next day, they went to a special screening and adoption event for Arthur The King at AMC Century City 15.
They looked fantastic at the red carpet at the 96th Annual Academy Awards in Hollywood.

Hsu supported her fella at the premiere of Netflix’s Atlas at the Egyptian Theatre Hollywood on May 20.
Liu popped the question in Paris, and Hsu said yes. The couple announced their engagement on Mother’s Day, and they shared a carousel of photos. Hsu flaunted her giant oval diamond ring. “Us forever 💍💍💍🤍🤍🤍” Hsu captioned her post.
