ITV’s Coronation Street will return this week with more from Kevin Webster’s (played by Michael Le Vell) dramatic storyline. The mechanic has been caught in a web of lies in an attempt to save his relationship with wife Abi (Sally Carman), who is currently being swooned by Kevin’s scheming brother Carl (Jonathan Howard).

In a major plot twist, it has been revealed that Kevin, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment, will use his illness to manipulate his wife’s feelings to keep her by his side. Wednesday’s episode saw Abi admit that she wants to leave Kevin but would rather wait until he receives the all-clear before breaking his heart. With Carl constantly making a move on her, Abi told him: “I've made a serious decision. If the news is good, I'm going to talk to Kev – tell him that I need a break. “Not because I want to be with you. My head's a mess. You're right, I'm not happy. I love him, but I'm not in love with him.”

Having grown suspicious of Carl and Abi’s growing connection, Kevin devises a dangerous plot to ensure his wife doesn't want to part ways.

During a visit to Speed Daal, Kevin crosses paths with Dr. Gaddas, who confirms the truth about his hospital results and congratulates him on being cancer-free.

Kevin tells Carl that he’s been given the all clear, but confused by his apparent lie, Abi puts Carl straight and explains that Kevin needs to undergo another round of chemo.

Which comes after the mechanic makes out to her that he might need a more aggressive course of chemotherapy and needs Abi by his side. In the episode, Kevin tells Abi: "The good news is the cancer's not spread. But it's not responded to treatment either, so I'm not in the clear. Far from it."

Corrie's Kevin and Tyrone

Abi is horrified to find Kevin and Carl at loggerheads. When Kevin strains his groin playing football with Jack, Abi tells him it’s time he tells his family the truth.

Kevin makes out to his sister Debbie (Sue Devaney) and pal Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) that his cancer is unresponsive and he has to have further chemo.

Feeling the pressure, Kevin later blurts out to a stunned Tyrone that he lied about his health and that his cancer has gone.

However, it's yet to be seen if Tyrone will keep his secret or if he will intervene and stop Kevin’s manipulation tactics before it gets out of control and causes devastation.
