Dakota Johnson Enjoys Girls Trip With Kate Hudson After Breakup
Dakota Johnson is learning how to be single.
After all, the Materialists actress has been on a European vacation with Kate Hudson following her breakup with Chris Martin.
On June 28, the pair was spotted dining with entrepreneur Douglas Chabbott and Dakota's agent Maha Dakhil in Rome. At one point in the evening, Ricky Martin stopped by to say hello despite dining at a different restaurant.
Three days later, Dakota and Kate—who are the daughters of longtime friends Melanie Griffith and Goldie Hawn, respectively—went on a cruise off the coast of Ibiza, Spain. As seen in photos published by People, they spent the day enjoying the sun in their bikinis, lounging on a large white raft with a friend and swimming in the water, unafraid to get their hair wet.
The girls trip comes just a few weeks after multiple outlets reported that Dakota and Chris had called it quits on their relationship of nearly eight years. And while the news came as a surprise—as the couple had recently been spotted together on a yoga date—the couple had faced breakup rumors months earlier, that were ultimately shut down by reps at the time.
Neither Dakota or Chris have publicly spoken about their breakup. However, the radio silence is no surprise given how the former couple has always been tight-lipped about their romance. In fact, they have never addressed how Chris—who shares kids Apple Martin, 21, and Moses Martin, 19, with ex Gwyneth Paltrow—popped the question several years ago.
And keeping their love life out of the spotlight was an intentional choice by the couple, who each have intense work schedules.
“We’ve been together for quite a while, and we go out sometimes," Dakota told Elle in December 2021. "But we both work so much that it’s nice to be at home and be cozy and private."
