GB News star shares health update live on air as she sends emotional warning to fans

A GB News star shared a "very personal" update live on air this weekend. Sophie Reaper, a North West Reporter for the news channel, became somewhat emotional as she shared that she had been given the "all clear" for cervical cancer after undergoing a series of tests.
Updating viewers, the 27-year-old host shared: "My peak of the week this week is a little bit personal, but I wanted to share it regardless. I found out yesterday that I don't have cancer."
She went on to explain: "I've been undergoing some tests and I learned yesterday that it's brilliant news and I'm in the clear. The reason I'm shared this as my peak of the week, I was a bit uncertain because it's quite a private story for me this, but it was cervical cancer that I was being tested for.
"I want to be a bit of an advocate for young women like me. I'm only 27 and this was my second ever smear test and they found something."
The presenter went on to urge women to look after their health, continuing: "So ladies out there, no matter what age you are, the second that they invite you for your smear test it is so important that you go. Because you just never know."
Summing up, Sophie admitted that she felt "very emotional" as she once again reminded women to go for their smear tests.
The young news reader later shared the clip to her X account, as she captioned it: "I shared something quite personal yesterday, but I’m hoping that, by doing so, it will encourage other women to go and get tested.
"Smear tests can be uncomfortable and awkward, but it’s so, so important to have them regularly - you never know what they might find."
Fans supported and applauded the GB News star for her bravery. One viewer commented: "Sophie, that was brave of you to share that. I hope it works to get others to go for testing."
Another added: "Fantastic news, and brilliant you were able to encourage others to get tested. GB News is the best," while a third said: "Well done Sophie.
"I watched this yesterday and thought how brave you were to talk about this. Early detection is everything."
