Hijack Season 2: Everything We Know
hijack season 2

Readers, this is not a drill. There is a bomb on this train, and only one man can stop it. That man is Idris Elba. After stopping terrorists from taking over an airplane, he's back in Hijack season 2 to save passengers taken hostage on another commuter vehicle. This time, he's on an underground train.

Apple TV made the announcement on Wednesday, revealing that season 2 will take place in a Berlin metro. "While authorities scramble to save hundreds of lives," the streamer teased, "Sam Nelson (Elba) is at the heart of the crisis on board, where one wrong decision could spell disaster." A teaser shows Elba stepping onto the train before his name flashes on screen. Then, we see the bomb before the release date appears: January 14, 2026. Watch it below.

Hijack was my favorite TV show of 2023. So, the prospect of Sam Nelson recreating The Taking of Pelham One Two Three in season 2 is incredibly exciting. Somehow, I never imagined that he wouldn't simply board another plane—if Hijack ever returned at all.

Before the series was renewed for season 2, Elba kinda-sorta said he wouldn't want to do another hijacking. "I just don’t want to put him on another hijack," he told Variety in June 2023. "I’m open to that character coming back. I think if people were compelled to like the character, then I’m in." Well, we certainly liked him—and enough to put him in another dangerous hijacking. Let's hope he also knows how to dismantle a bomb.

"I think Sam as a character is really compelling," Hijack's co-creator, Jim Field, told TV Insider. "I think the way Idris portrays him is really compelling, and I think it would always be interesting to see how he would react in other situations, of course."
