MAFS UK's Polly unveils the sad truth behind her decision to not attend the reunion

Exclusive:

Married At First Sight UK star Polly Sellman has exclusively revealed why she decided to opt out of the lastest reunion episode.
Polly, 28, appeared on the 2024 series of MAFS UK and was paired up with Adam Nightingale, 33, after relationship experts Mel Schilling, Paul C Brunson, and Charlene Douglas, felt that they would make the perfect couple. However, Polly and Adam's marriage journey turned out to be far from straight-forward. So much so that they are now not on speaking terms one year after tying the knot.
Ahead of the MAFS UK reunion, which airs on Monday night on E4, Polly exclusively spoke to the Mirror about her decision to decline the offer to join her fellow co-stars several months after filming concluded. The flame-haired beauty decided to opt out last minute for her mental wellbeing and also due to her messy relationship with Adam.
Polly addressed Adam's relationship with co-star Amy Kenyon, 28, after the pair have sparked rumours that they're more than friends since the show ended. While on the show, Adam made his attraction to Amy obvious, and when partner-swap week came around, it was a triggering time for Polly due to the fact Adam and Amy were paired up with one another.
Since the series and last reunion ended, Adam and Amy appear to be spending a significant amount of time with one another - despite continuously denying that they are anything more than friends.
However, Polly isn't convinced. "I now 100% believe that they are together. If I'm wrong, them I'm wrong, but there is no way that they can be how they've been together and spend as much time as they have been together and going off on these holidays and always being on TikTok live together while in bed together - I think Stevie Wonder could see what's going on there," she quipped. "I'm not an idiot. I think everyone knows what's going on there and maybe they're trying to long it out to try and stay relevant."
Thankfully, Adam and Amy's close bond doesn't affect Polly now after she was able to get over their flirtatious ways ' a very long time ago'. "I'm over it now. I was able to get over it a very long time ago. I think because I actually took a step back and looked at the position I was in, I was able to compartmentalise.
"We knew each other for twelve weeks and ultimately, you don't owe anyone anything after that amount of time. Just because you think you know someone, you do not know anyone in three months. I came away from that and I looked at them as individuals and even I felt as though they were both probably better suited in comparison to how myself and Adam were suited.
"Obviously, I was upset at the time because it all happened so soon after me and Adam ended things, but in a way, good luck to them because if there's something actually there between them, then who I am to get in the way of that. I've worked on myself since the show and I've got the help that I needed and have spoken to people to get the answers as to why I acted like that on the show. I have grown up a lot and have worked on myself so much."
Polly also admitted that it was a mix between spending time with her family, looking after her mental wellbeing, and not throwing herself back into a situation that would trigger her that ultimately stopped her from attending the latest reunion. "If I had of decided to go to the reunion, I know I would have just been triggered by questions about Amy and Adam.
"It would have been like waving a red flag in front of a bull. So that's another reason why I decided not to go. I would have been sitting opposite these two people who have denied for so long that there is chemistry between them. They would have been flirting right in front of my face and answering really derogatory and mean questions in front of me," she said.
"Also, there was a family and friend holiday booked that week since 2023, and it just so happened that it fell on the week of the reunion. We only got the dates for the reunion two weeks before, so I was actually going to cut my holiday short and go. However, when I was actually with my friends and having such a good time, I didn't want to leave. I was with my best friends and I hadn't seen them for months. I felt like I was being present with everyone though with the date of the reunion looming.
"I knew if I had of left that holiday to go and do the reunion it wouldn't have been good for me mentally. All I would have been doing was putting myself back where I was six months previous to that. I had done so much work on myself and I didn't want that, so the best decision for me was to just not go," Polly added.
It comes as Polly has recently ditched the UK following her rocky stint on the reality show. The reality TV star has embarked on a completely fresh start as she is focusing on investing in herself by ditching the UK for sunny Australia. She has also lost a staggering four stone since appearing on the show.
