Domestic companies are opening up to AI, but they have to do it wisely. Gigafactory in Poland will help

Artificial intelligence and quantum technologies - according to Dariusz Standerski, these are the most important trends in the conversation about digitalization for 2026. The guest of EEC Members argues that AI will be increasingly implemented in various sectors of the economy.

How to implement artificial intelligence in your company, with common sense

- We predict that a significant number of Polish companies will be implementing artificial intelligence solutions in 2026. It is important that they implement them wisely, not superficially - says the Deputy Minister of Digital Affairs in an interview with WNP.

What does that mean? In his opinion, it's about ensuring that implementation doesn't end with the purchase of a subscription for one service that isn't tailored to a given company.

The development of artificial intelligence in Polish companies is to be supported, among others, by the construction of the so-called AI gigafactory . The Deputy Minister of Digital Affairs emphasized that Poland already has shares in the Finnish artificial intelligence factory and the EC's decision to build one of its own , but the ambitions go much further.

The AI ​​Gigafactory is a unit several times larger than current centers of this type. Such infrastructure will enable training and testing of large AI models – both individual and many at the same time – which will open the way not only to scientific development, but above all to broad, real implementations in the economy.

- We are submitting an application, we have specific assumptions and we are working to ensure that this consortium is international and Poland is its leader - announced the deputy minister.

The quantum sector is set to see dynamic growth

The deputy minister pointed to quantum technologies as the second key development area for 2026. Although they are at an earlier stage of implementation than artificial intelligence, they - in his opinion - have great research and application potential.

There are already two quantum computers operating in Poland – in Poznań and at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology – and there are plans to install more devices at other technical universities. These activities are aimed at building the foundations for future applications of quantum technologies in industry, science and the economy.

According to Dariusz Standerski, 2026 will be a breakthrough in terms of the development of this field, and discussions and initiatives around it will be among the most important topics in the coming years.
