New Grand Theft Auto VI trailer drops shortly after release date delay

Rockstar Games and Take-Two today released the second trailer for the elusive Grand Theft Auto VI, a few days after revealing that the game would launch well outside of its planned Fall 2025 release window. Alongside the new May 26, 2026 release date, the trailer gives us a much clearer view of the game’s story and main characters, as well as a few of the side characters.
The trailer feels in many ways like a conciliatory gesture, in part because one of the fan complaints pre-delay was that the studio had only dropped one trailer for the game. This first trailer appeared to be mostly B-roll cinematic footage, without really focusing much on the story or the lead characters. In another way, it also appears to be aimed at fans who complained about not seeing much of the male lead in the first trailer, as he’s front-and-center in this one.
The trailer’s description reads: “Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.” Easy scores going wrong could pretty much be the tagline of the Grand Theft Auto series, so it’s probably no surprise the Jason and Lucia have found themselves in such a situation.
Take-Two calls the game “the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet,” with the trailer showing a bit of what the two characters can get up to in Vice City. Some of the extra information revealed on the games’ website shows the two can get involved with drug smuggling, bank robbing and the local music and real estate scenes.
