Sudden Samsung update may make you regret buying the Galaxy S25

The Galaxy S25 range are some of the best Android phones of 2025 but those who have rushed to by one may wish they had waited. During January's grand unveiling of the S25 and S25 Ultra, Samsung also offered up a surprise and gave fans a very quick glance at another upcoming device called the Galaxy S25 Edge.
From the front, this next-generation smartphone looks almost identical to all of its siblings but grab a glimpse from the side and you'll see why this gadget offers something different as it's ludicrously thin.
In fact, whilst the S25 Ultra measures in at a rather chunky 8.2mm thick, the Edge is just 5.8 mm.
Since it was first shown off during Samsung's Unpacked event in San Jose, California, little else has been revealed about the Edge.
We do know it has a dual-lens camera and it's expected to feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a 6.6-inch screen and extras such as embedded fingerprint scanner and stereo speaker.
What we also now know is that Samsung is close to a possible launch.
The Korean tech firm has suddenly sent out an email to customers revealing that something new is coming soon.
“Our brand new Galaxy smartphone is almost here,” explained Samsung in the message.
"Our next category defining smartphone. Light years ahead.”
There’s no actual meantion of the Galaxy S25 Edge in the email seen by Express.co.uk but all signs to point to an imminnet launch of this slimline device.
To make things sound even more enticing, Samsung is even offeirng £100 off the device to those prepared to sign up and put a £50 deposite down before the grand unveiling.
“Pay a refundable £50 deposit by 9th May and get an automatic £100 off when you pre-order,” Samsung confirmed.
We’ll hopefully have full details soon but one thing that seems certain is Samsung will beat Apple to the punch.
Rumours are rife that the US technology giant is planning to release an iPhone 17 Air which will also feature a skinny design.
If correct, we expect to see that phone unveiled during the firm’s update, which usually takes place in September.
