6 stars Man Utd could lose MILLIONS on as rivals take advantage of crisis

Manchester United are in a vulnerable position when it comes to transfers and they could be about to lose MILLIONS.
The Red Devils’ owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been attempting to slash costs at Old Trafford since his arrival at the club. And in an effort to boost the coffers, United have not been afraid to cash-in on some of their stars.
In an effort to raise funds further, club chiefs have also slotted in sell-on clauses in a number of deals but that could actually end up coming to bite them. According to The Telegraph, a host of clubs are aiming to effectively buy out those clauses.
While that would offer United a small financial boost now, it could actually see them lose out on huge fees in the long run. Take a look at the players who could be at the heart of those suggested deals:
Having arrived at Old Trafford in 2019, the now 30-time Tunisian international made 13 appearances for the United first-team, while enjoying loan spells with Birmingham and Sevilla. Mejbri was eventually sold last summer as he joined Burnley for a reported £9million.
He has since gone on to be a key part of the Clarets’ push for promotion back to the Premier League. United currently have an agreement entitling them to 50 percent of any profits Burnley make should they sell Mejbri, albeit that is expected to reduce across future windows.

Facundo PellistriThe young forward only joined United in 2020 from Penarol and was afforded 25 outings for the senior side, never scoring a goal. Like Mejbri, he was sent out on a series of loans before a permanent exit.
Greek giants Panathinaikos spent a reported €6m (£4.9m) plus €2m (£1.6m) in add-ons to sign him in the summer. But this time, United would be paid around 45 percent of any future transfer fee that Pellistri’s current employers receive should they choose to sell him.
Mason GreenwoodOne of the more lucrative sales from Old Trafford in recent seasons, French side Marseille spent around £26.6m on the striker last summer. And he has found excellent form this term with 15 goals in 25 appearances.
It is believed that United retain a sell-on clause worth between 40 to 50 percent should he leave Marseille. And that could see the Red Devils secure a huge amount should Greenwood be sold - albeit they would lose that should they agree to scrapping the sell-on clause.
Another product of the United academy, the Scottish midfielder has certainly enjoyed his time away from Old Trafford so far. The 28-year-old completed a move to Italian giants Napoli worth around £25.7m.
Since then, McTominay has scored seven goals in 25 appearances and has earned plenty of plaudits for his performances. It has previously been suggested that United agreed to a 10 percent sell-on clause in the move, which might have seen them in line for a multi-million pound payday in the future.
Aaron Wan-BissakaA £50m signing from Crystal Palace, United have already lost a significant amount on the defender after agreeing to sell him to West Ham for just £15m. And the fullback has already proven his worth with the Hammers.
United will have hoped to recoup even more having reportedly slotted a release clause into his move to the London Stadium. But should West Ham choose to buy that out, then that could see United lose out on a significant chunk of cash.
AntonyIn a slightly different arrangement, Brazilian misfit Antony joined Real Betis on loan in January. The Spanish side are paying a percentage of his wages, while there is apparently NO option or obligation to buy.
So how are United losing money? Well, but for a dramatic upturn in fortunes at Old Trafford, United will get nowhere near the £86m they paid to sign him from Ajax. Betis could choose to pursue a permanent deal given Antony’s bright start to life with the club but it is expected that the Red Devils will have to dramatically cut their losses.
