There aren't too many 28-year-old's who can say they have refereed three county senior football finals.

But come Sunday evening, Darragh Byrne will have handled his third Wicklow SFC final in five years.

The young Ballymanus whistler, who also lines out in defence for 'The Billies', will be the man in the middle for the meeting of Baltinglass and Carnew Emmets at Echelon Park in Aughrim at 2pm. He previously refereed the 2021 final between Blessington and Baltinglass, and the last year's decider between Tinahely and Baltinglass.

Byrne is also an up-and-coming referee on the inter-county scene, with his biggest assignment to date being last year's Leinster MFC final between Longford and Dublin in Tullamore.
