F1 LIVE: Max Verstappen narrowly escapes major punishment as Lewis Hamilton furious

Oscar Piastri claimed his third race win of 2025 in a dramatic Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The McLaren star finished ahead of Max Verstappen, who received a five-second time penalty for a first-lap incident, to move onto 99 points in the Drivers' Championship leaderboard.
Piastri, whose triumph hinged on that moment that saw Verstappen punished, now leads the Drivers' Championship for the first time this season after team-mate Lando Norris came fourth in Jeddah. In an epic race, Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari woes continued as he finished seventh, more than half a minute behind colleagues Charles Leclerc.

Lewis Hamilton is furious with his performances at Ferrari.
After finishing P7 while team-mate Charles Leclerc climbed onto the podium, the Brit predicted that his struggles may last the entire year.
"In qualifying, it's me extracting performance," he confessed. "In the race today, I tried everything, and the car just didn't want to go quicker."
Hamilton continued: "I think I'll struggle also in Miami. I don't know how much longer I'll struggle for, but it's definitely painful. At the moment, there's no fix. So ... this is how it's going to be for the rest of the year. It's going to be painful."
Max Verstappen escaped a harsher punishment than his five-second time penalty at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix.
The Dutchman was adjudged to have left the track to gain an advantage over Oscar Piastri on the first lap.
Verstappen was handed a five-second time penalty - but the stewards noted that it would have been a 10-second punishment had the incident occurred later in the race.
As part of their findings, the stewards said: "Ordinarily, the baseline penalty for leaving the track and gaining a lasting advantage is 10 seconds. However, given that this was lap one and turn one incident, we considered that to be a mitigating circumstance and imposed a five-second time penalty instead.”
