Kobbie Mainoo has attracted interest from ten clubs as Manchester United weigh up whether or not to move on their academy midfielder before the summer transfer window closes. The Englishman burst onto the scene under Erik ten Hag but has seen his progress stall.

Ruben Amorim has left him on the bench for the opening two games of the Premier League and he's yet to get any minutes with a queue of clubs prepared to take Mainoo off their hands.

It remains to be seen whether United would rather sanction a loan move, or sell him all together, which would help their PSR situation. They've spent over £200million this summer but are yet to sanction many permanent exits with time now against them.

The Daily Mail understands that both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are among the clubs eyeing up Mainoo. The bulk of the interest in him is Premier League-based but the two La Liga giants would consider making moves for the 20-year-old.

Mainoo has grown increasingly frustrated with his bit part role in Manchester, which has coincided with Amorim's arrival at the club. The situation has been made worse by the lack of progress regarding contract talks and a decision is now wanted imminently.

Chelsea were once heavily interested in Mainoo, but look to have settled on their midfield which may rule them out of the race. The midfielder was tipped as one of the brightest talents to emerge at Old Trafford in years, scoring in the FA Cup final win within months of making his debut.

However at Fulham on Sunday Casemiro, who was once tipped to leave the club, was chosen ahead of him to play alongside Bruno Fernandes in midfield. Amorim's system only allows for two midfielders to play and one of those is nearly always the United skipper, meaning places are at a premium.

Amorim hinted last week that Mainoo's understanding needs to improve before he can become a regular. He said: "We had some issues but we play with two midfielders, so it’s sometimes a different way of playing, and we have to understand, they have to understand, especially the young players, that there is phases in the season.

"Nowadays it’s normal with a lot of games, things are going to change, but he is there, he’s fighting, he’s training, so he’s one more option for us to win games."
