Mone's late two-pointer saves draw for Clontibret against Scotstown in Monaghan SFC

Dessie Mone struck a late two-pointer as Clontibret secured a 1-22 to 1-22 draw with holders Scotstown in yesterday’s heavyweight Monaghan senior football championship clash in Clones.
The defending champions made a superb start at St Tiernach’s Park which saw Sean Og McElwain netting their goal seven minutes in, as they ran up a 1-5 to 0-0 lead.
Conor McManus inspired the Clontibret comeback, netting a penalty along with four frees and a two-pointer as they went in trailing by 1-13 to 1-10 at the break.
Scotstown would add a dozen points to their tally after the change of ends, but wasn’t enough as McManus kept his side in the hunt and a brilliant late two-pointer from his former county colleague Mone earned a share of the spoils for the 2019 champions.
The day’s other game in the Mick Duffy Cup race saw Corduff scoring a comfortable 1-26 to 2-7 win over Truagh in Corduff.
