Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill was carted off with a horrifying leg injury in Monday night's game against the New York Jets, which his team later confirmed was a dislocated knee.
Hill went down in the third quarter after getting tackled by the sideline, with the Jets safety Malachi Moore landing awkwardly on the back his legs as Hill hit the ground.
The 31-year-old was immediately writhing in agony and there was a lengthy delay while he was treated by medics before the cart came out and he was taken to hospital, where he will stay overnight.
As Hill rolled on the turf, his foot appeated to be pointing the wrong way but he was holding his knee. Both Jets and Dolphins players immediately stopped in concern and called for doctors to race onto the field.
Then, as Hill was taken away, he raised his hands to the crowd as if he was calling for them to make more noise.
He applauded at one moment and even bizarrely waved to Dolphins supporters but replays of the injury were so bad, there were immediate fears over him playing again in the 2025 season.

The Dolphins, going after their first win of the season, were quick to rule him out of the game. Now, doctors are working to discover if Hill has torn any ligaments in his knee before determining how long he will be out for.
But fans were sickened by the clip of the injury that circulated online. One wrote: 'Man that Tyreek Hill video need to come with a warning.'
Another said: Tyreek Hill had his leg snapped like a Lego, but Twitter dont take anything seriously, so the memes are going crazy.'
Hill has been at the center of huge controversy in the NFL over the last few months.
The league is currently investigating him over allegations of domestic abuse made by his estranged wife, Keeta Vaccaro.
Vaccaro filed for divorce from Hill on April 7 - one day after police responded to reports of an 'assault in progress' at their home.
The Dolphins wide receiver, who is believed to have as many as 10 kids, was not arrested following the incident, though Vaccaro's mother Alesia said he had acted 'aggressive and impulsive' after he allegedly hurled a laptop to the floor.
Divorce court documents obtained by TMZ have accused Hill of domestic violence on several occasions, including when Vaccaro was pregnant with their baby daughter Capri. He is also accused of spitting at her on one occasion.

The documents are part of the couple's ongoing divorce case. Through his attorney, Hill has denied the allegations and called them a 'smear campaign.'
The couple wed in November 2023, but Vaccaro has alleged that Hill began getting physical with her just two months later in January 2024.
Meanwhile, the Dolphins have endured a disastrous start to the season with pressure ramping up on head coach Mike McDaniel. And for the controversy around Hill's personal life, he is a key player for the team on the field.
Last season, he was unhappy at missing out on the playoffs and threatened to leave the team - even now, he was being linked with a trade going into Monday's Jets showdown.
But now, all that talk is on hold as he faces an anxious wait to learn the extent of the injury.
