Tennis wonderkid admits all prize money goes to her dad - 'Hopefully he leaves me some'

Mirra Andreeva made history over the weekend, becoming the youngest player ever to lift a WTA 1000 title.
By winning the Dubai Tennis Championships, the 17-year-old broke into the top 10 and bagged £472k. But Andreeva won’t be spending the money anytime soon.
The teenager gave a heartwarming response when asked what she’d do with her prize, revealing that all the money goes to her dad’s credit card because she’s still under 18.
Andreeva went on an incredible run in Dubai, beating Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina en route to her biggest final yet. In the championship match, she downed Clara Tauson 7-6(1) 6-1.
The Russian clinched the biggest title of her young career and has reached a new career-high ranking of No. 9 in the world.
While most players would treat themselves to something with their prize money, the same can’t be said for Andreeva. The teenager admitted the funds went straight to her father, though she’s hoping he will leave her some for a celebratory snack.
“All questions to my dad. It all goes on his credit card because I don't have my own yet. I cannot have my own bank account because I'm not 18,” the newly-crowned champion said when asked what she’d be spending her prize money on.
“I'm hoping that he will leave me some to spend somewhere, to buy chips and Coke. Yeah, I don't know. I'm going to ask him.”

Andreeva also has no interest in spending her hard-earned money, explaining that she already feels fulfilled.
She continued: “Honestly, I don't even know what I want. Now I think about it and I feel like I have everything I ever wanted.
“I won the tournament. I won it. I've already reached my goal that I've set for myself by the end of the year.
“My family is travelling with me. I have a great team. I don't know what else I need. I feel happy and I feel this is all I need.
“I have no idea. I think it will all go to my dad's credit card. Maybe he's going to buy himself something. I have no idea.”
But that doesn’t mean the teenager doesn’t enjoy a shopping trip. “Of course I like shopping. I think every girl likes shopping,” she said.
“Doesn't matter what I buy, just as long as I buy something I already feel good. It can be jewellery. It can be a pair of jeans. It can be socks. It can be, I don't know, a cap. As long as I bought something, I already feel good and I feel like the day is successful.
“I don't think we're going to go to Dubai Mall because my dad is probably going to hate me if I tell him I want to go to Dubai Mall.
“Yeah, he hates shopping and he hates spending his time in the shopping malls. I don't know. Of course, I do like shopping. I like to buy something. Even if it's from the grocery store it's good.”
Andreeva will now enjoy some well-earned rest before heading to America for the ‘sunshine double’ of 1000-point tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami, where she will compete as a top-10 player for the first time.
