This Traitors Ireland star was caught up in the GAA Catfish scandal

The first episode of The Traitors Ireland aired last night, and viewers were finally introduced to the 24 contestants taking part in the show.
There’s an eclectic mix of people in the first season of the Irish show, but you may recognise one face in particular.
27-year-old event coordinator Faye was unveiled as one of The Traitors Ireland contestants, but she was actually caught up in the GAA Catfish Scandal.
The woman behind the GAA Catfish scandal stole images from Faye’s social media accounts to catfish men in the sports and entertainment industries.
Faye said the woman, who was going by ‘Aoife Kennedy’ at the time, also contacted her in 2023.
The 2 Johnnies revealed that the imposter was stealing images from other women’s social media accounts. She was catfishing men under the alias Aoife Kennedy, according to The 2 Johnnies.
Telling listeners the stories of a catfish who targeted GAA stars and other media people, he said: “Last year, I became single. It’s never easy, no matter what way it goes. And in January, around Christmas time, this girl follows me on Instagram.
“She’s absolutely stunning, drop-dead gorgeous. She’s from Limerick, has 15k followers, and is followed by a few people I know personally and is followed by a few well-known people from the industry, from showbiz.
“So, one night I’m looking at her stories and I said, Go on. I’ll send her an old DM.”
They texted for weeks, but failed to meet up with the woman, making claims about being ill and relatives dying.
Johnny B soon realised she was a catfish, but he wasn’t the only vicitm.
The podcast hosts discovered that the woman behind everything was running numerous fake profiles.
The 2 Johnnies later revealed that over 100 people had been directly affected by the GAA Catfish.
