Inside Hilton’s Asia-Pacific Push Into Lifestyle and Luxury Hotels

Hilton said Monday it has passed the 160-hotel mark in Asia-Pacific for properties it classifies as luxury or lifestyle. The hotel company said it will exceed 250 luxury and lifestyle hotels in the region in the coming years.
The company has also added more than 100 future luxury and lifestyle hotels to its global development pipeline this year. It expects to open roughly three new hotels in this segment every week this year, about 150 more hotels worldwide.
“In the first half of this year, luxury and lifestyle openings accounted for a quarter of our global openings,” Clarence Tan, Hilton’s senior vice president for development in Asia-Pacific, told Skift. “China, Japan and Southeast Asia will be the key drivers of expansion, supported by robust economic fundamentals, rising affluence and large-scale infrastructure investment.”
Globally, Hilton’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio has now surpassed 1,000 trading hotels, with nearly 500 more in
