Accident in Rahnsdorf: Senior woman critically injured – helicopter, hospital

In Rahnsdorf in the Treptow-Köpenick district, a 74-year-old cyclist suffered life-threatening injuries on Tuesday afternoon. According to the Berlin police, an 84-year-old man drove his car from a parking lot onto Lagunenweg at around 2 p.m. He failed to see the cyclist coming from the left, who was heading towards Fürstenwalder Allee.
As a result of the collision, the elderly woman was thrown onto the car. The car then crashed through the fence of a property on the opposite side of the road with the woman lying on it. There, it uprooted several trees before the vehicle rolled over the cyclist and finally came to a stop.
Rescue workers took the seriously injured woman by helicopter to a hospital for inpatient treatment, where she was immediately operated on. According to police reports, both the car and the bicycle were confiscated for a technical report. The accident report and further investigations were taken over by the specialist department for traffic offenses of Police Directorate 3 (East).
