AfD politician: Auschwitz Committee outraged by Krah and Helferich in AfD parliamentary group
The International Auschwitz Committee has condemned the inclusion of AfD politicians Maximilian Krah and Matthias Helferich in the party's parliamentary group. Executive Vice President Christoph Heubner said that it revealed "cynical arrogance" that they had now been included in the parliamentary group. The association described the appointment as a scandal that would seriously damage the image of Germany, and not just among the victims of National Socialist persecution. Krah and Helferich were "bogeymen of the AfD," Heubner continued.
During the 2024 European election campaign, Maximilian Krah was banned from making public appearances because of the statement "I will never say that everyone who wore an SS uniform was automatically a criminal." Matthias Helferich, among other things, called himself "the friendly face of National Socialism."
