A first for new car registrations in Austria has occurred. The Viennese districts of Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus and Mariahilf are responsible for this.
New registrations: Increase in electric cars
New car registrations increased
For the first time, individual districts in Austria have experienced a half-year record in which the share of electric cars in new registrations exceeds 50 percent, reports the Austrian Transport Club (VCÖ) based on data from Statistics Austria. Among the federal states, Salzburg and Upper Austria lead the way in new electric car registrations, while Linz leads the way among the state capitals.
In Vienna's Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus district, 58 percent of new cars were electric in the first half of the year, and in Vienna's Mariahilf district, 56 percent. "What Denmark has already achieved nationwide is now being achieved for the first time by two districts in Austria: More than half of newly registered cars are 100 percent electric," says VCÖ expert Katharina Jaschinsky.
Outside of Vienna, the share of new electric car registrations is highest in the Mühlviertel district of Rohrbach at almost 35 percent, followed by the Kirchdorf district at 31 percent and the Graz area at 30 percent. Nationwide, there are only two districts with less than ten percent of new electric car registrations: the Styrian district of Liezen at around four percent and the Tyrolean district of Reutte at around six percent.
In a comparison of state capitals, Linz leads the field with 29 percent. Salzburg and Eisenstadt follow, and St. Pölten comes last. However, in all state capitals, the share is above one-fifth.
