Fergy opens new branch at Rosenthaler Platz: Detroit-Pan-Pizza in Berlin-Mitte

Anyone who has passed by Rosenthaler Platz in the past few days could not have missed the new Fergy branch. Red and white awnings that extend over the sidewalk and a huge sign in the same color that runs across both windows: "mmh, juicy" - it says. After a first branch in Kreuzberg, the pan pizza business is now moving to Berlin-Mitte.
"It's official! We're opening our store at Rosenthaler Platz on March 1st!" Fergy announced in an Instagram post. With live music, drinks and "Detroit Pan Pizza until you drop", the pizza bakers will welcome their first customers next Saturday in the premises that previously housed Café Codos - right at the entrance to the subway station.
Some people may already be familiar with the pizzeria. Since the middle of last year, the “Deep Dish Detroit Pizza” with its thick, crispy dough base – which is more reminiscent of a cake – has been available in the backyard of the Kreuzberg club Ritter Butzke.
The difference that sets the pizza apart not only from Italian derivatives, but also from other American variants lies in the preparation: the dough is baked twice. In addition to the eight variants that are on the menu in the Kreuzberg branch, there is a new special every month.
In addition to classic toppings such as mushrooms or pepperoni, the Detroit-style pizzeria also offers typical American pizzas: one with Bolognese and one with chicken and broccoli, for example. The prices are sporty. The first branch charges five to seven euros for a square piece of pizza. But who knows - maybe there will be an unbeatable opening offer on Saturday.
