False reports about Heinz Hoenig have repeatedly circulated—most recently with a particularly perfidious claim. Now his wife is speaking out—and taking a clear stance.
Actor Heinz Hoenig has been through a serious health crisis. Hoenig spent more than 100 days in intensive care last year. He is now back to his normal life – and is accompanied by his wife Annika Kärsten-Hoenig, who will care for him after his release.
However, claims that the 73-year-old has died repeatedly surface online. Such false reports are increasingly burdening the family. In a recent Instagram story, Annika Kärsten-Hoenig vented her anger: She shared a corresponding Facebook post and commented with a clear "Enough!!!!!!"
In an accompanying video, she explained how much such posts hurt her. Her husband is "once again being declared dead," she said. She considers it "absolutely tasteless, disgusting," and she "actually lacks the words" to express it, "because my good upbringing wouldn't allow that."
To illustrate how unrealistic the circulating reports are, Annika Kärsten-Hoenig addressed her followers directly: "You see, we're sitting here at the outdoor pool and my husband is fine." She then pointed the phone at Heinz Hoenig, who also commented. His words: "It's tasteless to accuse me of such a thing. I'm alive. Okay, remember that!"

In another video, Annika Kärsten-Hoenig finally thanked everyone for the many kind messages following her story about fake news. "We simply have the best community anyone could wish for," she said.
Hoenig was admitted to a Berlin hospital on April 30, 2024, and placed in an artificial coma due to his critical condition. A life-saving aortic surgery had to be postponed because he was too weak for the procedure. A bacterial infection led to the removal of his esophagus.
However, the actor says he is on the road to recovery, can walk again, and hopes to return to acting soon. In an interview with the "Bild" newspaper at the end of June, he said: "I'm making good progress. My wife trains with me every day. Thanks to Annika and our wonderful children, I'm doing so well. They are my driving force and motivation."
