USA stops some arms deliveries to Ukraine
Washington is suspending some arms deliveries to Ukraine, particularly the delivery of anti-aircraft missiles. US media reports that the decision is motivated by concerns about Ukraine's defense capabilities.
The White House says it is stopping some important arms deliveries to Ukraine that were promised to the country under the administration of former President Joe Biden.
"This decision was made to put America's interests first after the Department of Defense reviewed our nation's military support and assistance to other countries around the world," White House deputy spokeswoman Anna Kelly said in an email to AFP.
According to the information, the weapons are primarily anti-aircraft missiles.
US media had previously reported that Washington said it was concerned about the decline in its own ammunition stocks.
At the beginning of June, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned of massive repercussions for his country if the US were to reduce or completely stop its support for his country. The US, once Ukraine's biggest supporter, had not approved any new aid for Russia-attacked Ukraine since January.
