On the way to the Biennale through Ibirapuera Park, navigating the winding paths with my phone through palm trees and joggers, a large butterfly flies by. Perhaps as an analog reminder of where I am. São Paulo is about twice the size of New York City, with more than five times the population of Berlin. Endless traffic jams squeeze through streets that have become too narrow. Skyscrapers shoot erratically into the sky on hills and valleys. A metropolis full of concrete and problems.
