Cannes Film Festival: You will never silence us

Iranian director Jafar Panahi wins the Palme d'Or at Cannes. This may seem like a politically motivated award. However, in a very strong Cannes year, not only he, but also his film, is a worthy winner.

"In a sense, I didn't make this film , the Islamic Republic of Iran did," said Jafar Panahi in Cannes . The director won the Palme d'Or on Saturday evening for his film "It Was Just an Accident." This is the festival's top prize and one of the most important awards in the film industry. Panahi came up with the idea for the film after the regime in Tehran had once again imprisoned him for his constant criticism of the country's rulers.
