The major British bank HSBC wants to get its employees' money if they work too much from home. Well, it's not that easy to take back freedoms once granted.

By Valentin Dornis

The biggest problem with new freedoms is that once people have gained them, they are very reluctant to give them up. Whether that's really a problem depends on your perspective. For example, if a boss wants more control and power over their employees' time, you'll realize that many employees have learned during the pandemic that working from home allows them to work more effectively. This is certainly a problem from a boss's perspective, as this realization makes it rather difficult to return to pre-pandemic attendance rates.

It's right that bosses want to see their employees back in the office more often. But they're doing a lot of things wrong. How can employees actually enjoy returning to their desks?
