KapMuG proceedings: Dispute over the Wirecard model plaintiff

Reading time: 4 min.
|In the battle of former Wirecard shareholders for damages, the lawyer for the model plaintiff has dropped out. The rift had been looming – now the prospects for success for tens of thousands of investors are more uncertain than ever.
It's been apparent for some time that something was amiss. Yet it's surprising that the model case, which is supposed to resolve the damages claims of former Wirecard shareholders, has now come to a head—and also how violently it's unfolding. Peter Mattil, previously the model plaintiff's most important representative in court, is quitting. And he's doing so with a justification that's unusual among lawyers in its candor: The "different strategies" within the model plaintiff's team, Mattil announced Wednesday evening, are "incompatible."
