No food, no mobile phone, no distractions – this is how this man found his way out of burnout

In 2011, René Ruhland founded the e-commerce company My Poster with his brother Marc, which he still runs as CEO today. The early years were particularly tough for the founder. In 2014, Ruhland finally slipped into burnout and experienced a vicious cycle of physical and psychological reactions. He found a way out through what is known as zero fasting . The founder spends several days in a secluded hotel – without solid food and without television or other digital media. Since 2014, the father of four has repeated this time off almost every year. In an interview with Gründerszene, he recounts his experiences. A transcript.
In 2014, I reached a point where it became clear to me that I couldn't go on like this. I had burnout , on top of that, sudden hearing loss, and an autoimmune disease that just wouldn't get better. And basically, no matter what I tried, I just couldn't calm down. I couldn't regulate myself at all anymore. And then I read somewhere about zero-calorie fasting and what it does to the body. So I thought, I can give it a try.
