|More than 60 percent of respondents want to avoid importing goods from the US in response to possible US punitive tariffs. However, only under certain conditions.
Many Europeans are apparently prepared to boycott US products such as Coca-Cola , Nike sneakers and Mars Bars because of Trump's tariff policy. More than 60 percent of the consumers surveyed say they want to avoid buying US products if US punitive tariffs are imposed. However, they only intend to do so if the price of European alternatives is not too high, i.e. if their wallets are not unduly strained. This is the result of a survey conducted by the Swiss online retailer Galaxus in Germany , Austria, Switzerland , France and Italy . On behalf of Galaxus, the market research institute Yougov surveyed 5,263 representatively selected people from the end of April to the beginning of May. Galaxus is a subsidiary of the Swiss retail group Migros and has a turnover of 3.4 billion euros, most of it in Switzerland.
