The Trump administration has been calling for some time for Apple to build the iPhone—the company's most important product—in the U.S. Experts argue that this would require massive investments and drastically increase the price of smartphones.

Apple has already moved from China to India

For a long time, the iPhone manufacturer had its devices built primarily by contract manufacturers in China . Due to increasing tensions between Beijing and Washington, Apple began building production capacity in India. At the beginning of May, CEO Cook, referring to the US tariff dispute with China, said he expected most iPhones sold in the US in the current quarter to come from India.
