Drug raid in the train station district: Police stop aggressive dealer network

On Tuesday evening, the police carried out a large-scale raid against drug dealers in the station district . The operation was aimed specifically at a group of Jamaican nationals who had been increasingly noticed selling marijuana, cocaine and ecstasy on Münchener Strasse in recent weeks and months. The police also reported that there had also been "massive complaints" from residents and business owners.
At around 6 p.m. that evening, the police suddenly closed Munich Street so that the dealers could no longer escape. The officers then checked them and confiscated numerous drugs . Either the dealers themselves had brought them with them or they were in bunkers that the police also dug up during the course of the evening. Around 30 people were arrested. It was initially unclear how many of them were taken into custody. They are not allowed to stay in the train station district until further notice. According to a police spokesman, the members of the group harassed passers-by "in a particularly aggressive manner" in order to sell their drugs. This apparently resulted in "enormous sales."

As operations manager Timothy Giese said, the aim of the operation was to make it clear that the police do not tolerate drug dealing or an open drug scene. The complaints from residents are taken very seriously. The checks lasted into the night. The police set up a tent at Wiesenhüttenplatz, where the suspects were searched. The police also took their personal details. According to initial findings, they do not have a permanent residence in Frankfurt, but are housed in refugee accommodation in the region.
