Friedrich Merz and Donald Trump talk on the phone: Resolve trade dispute quickly

Merz invited Trump to Germany, according to government sources after the approximately 30-minute conversation, according to the dpa news agency. Trump indicated that he could imagine such a visit. As president, Trump has only been to Germany for the 2017 G20 summit, apart from stops at the US air base in Ramstein.

Trump, for his part, invited Merz to Washington. The Chancellor has already publicly stated that he would like to travel to the United States before the G7 and NATO summits in June, i.e., within the next six weeks. The G7 summit will take place in Canada in mid-June, and the NATO summit will follow shortly thereafter in The Hague.
