Gold everywhere: Donald Trump transforms Oval Office into showpiece

Donald Trump presents his completely revamped vision of the Oval Office, complete with gleaming gold decorations. Visitors experience a transformation of the famous White House room that is either impressive or simply tastelessly questionable.
Donald Trump has redesigned the Oval Office following his return to the White House. At a recent meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, the room was presented in a completely new, opulent guise. According to a report in the US news magazine "Newsweek," the room is a prime example of Trump's style, which is now dominated by gold ornamentation and rococo mirrors.
The recent changes first appeared in February, when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu became the first foreign visitor. Netanyahu toured the room, which was framed by a tasteful arrangement of portraits and cherubs.
Since then, more details have been added, including intricate gold vessels and an imposing new clock base. Trump also says he's personally working on redesigning the adjacent garden, using Mar-a-Lago, where things can get uncomfortable for neighbors , as inspiration.
Newsweek further reports that when presenting the new room design to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Trump emphasized that the changes were made with "love and 24-karat gold." A bronze bust of Churchill, which was removed during Obama's term, has also been returned. According to Peter Loge of George Washington University, these lavish changes are characteristic of Trump's approach to his office.

Compared to Trump's predecessor, Joe Biden, the Oval Office now features a more maximalist design. Previous decorative elements, such as the simple green ivy, have been replaced with numerous gold accents. The design underscores a stark contrast to the more modest furnishings during the Biden administration, reports Newsweek.
