Israel's military shield has holes, and bunkers aren't available for everyone. A visit to those who consider themselves to be treated as "low-class" citizens: the Bedouins of the Negev Desert.

The landscape is dusty, rocky, sandy, and barren. A few camels stand on Giacometti-like legs by the country road, shaggy sheep and goats roam, and a wild dog roams. Further back, tin huts rise up, interspersed with a few small houses – this is the village of Makchul. The green crane truck with its bright yellow rims is parked behind one of the stone houses. Hanging from the crane's extended boom: a rocket. Or, more precisely, the remains of a rocket.
