Pension: Civil servants' union opposes Bärbel Bas's pension demands

The aging of society is putting pressure on the pension system because fewer and fewer workers are contributing to the pension fund, while more and more are receiving retirement benefits. Experts fear that providing for the boomer generation will overburden younger contributors.
The President of the German Institute for Economic Research, Marcel Fratzscher, therefore recently called for a pension and tax reform that would raise the retirement age and reduce pension increases in the future. He argued that the younger generation should not be burdened even more.
