There was this scene from Alaska on the sidelines of the summit. Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin sat for photos on dark wooden chairs, with an interpreter and the foreign minister next to them. While the journalists took their pictures, the group talked about Sergei Lavrov's sweater. The Russian foreign minister had previously worn it through Anchorage, bearing the words "CCCR" (USSR). Putin grinned, pointed at Lavrov, and simply said: "Imperialist." As if the whole superpower posturing were a big joke.
