Prison sentences after racism against Real star Vinicius

Four Spanish football fans have been sentenced to prison for racist insults against Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior. In January 2023, shortly before the derby against Atletico Madrid, the men tied an inflatable doll wearing the Brazilian 's jersey to a bridge. Above it hung a banner reading "Madrid odia al Real" (Madrid hates Real).
The court in Madrid sentenced the main defendant to a total of 22 months in prison. The man had distributed images of the crime online. The other three defendants were each sentenced to 14 months. All four must complete an anti-discrimination program before their sentences can be suspended. They also received fines ranging from €720 to €1,084.
Vinicius Jr. repeatedly a victim of racismThe four convicted men, all members of the ultra association "Frente Atletico" (Atletico Front), must in future keep a distance of at least 1,000 meters from the player, his residence and Real's training ground and are also no longer allowed to attend matches organized by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
According to La Liga, all defendants signed a letter of apology to Vinicius, Real Madrid, the league, and the federation, thereby reducing their sentences.

Vinicius has been the victim of racist insults for some time. Just last September, a court in Palma de Mallorca sentenced a person to a twelve-month suspended prison sentence. The incident occurred on February 5, 2023, during RCD Mallorca's match against Real Madrid.
