Banxico launches commemorative coins and banknotes for its 100th anniversary: where to get them

The Bank of Mexico (Banxico) celebrates its centenary this August 25th with the issuance of a commemorative silver coin and special banknotes , which have already begun circulating throughout the country.

The commemorative piece is two ounces of pure silver , with a face value of 10 pesos and minted by the Mexican Mint .
In its design, the obverse shows the National Coat of Arms surrounded by ancient coats of arms of the country and the eagle of the Mendoza Codex, while the reverse shows the main building of Banxico along with the legend "Centenary of the founding of the Bank of Mexico."
According to the Official Gazette of the Federation , the coin is circular, 48 millimeters in diameter, minted in .999 pure silver, and weighs 62.206 grams (equivalent to two troy ounces). It will be issued in limited quantities and will be available at authorized retailers such as the Mexican Mint and the Interactive Museum of Economics .

In addition to the currency, Banxico issued commemorative banknotes that include the legend “100th Anniversary 1925-2025” printed below the monogram and the text Banco de México .
These banknotes are legal tender and will circulate alongside those already in use. This means they can be used in any transaction or exchanged at banking institutions for their face value.
