Camacol receives international recognition for its circular economy initiative

The Circular Economy Toolkit for Construction (TECC) initiative, promoted by the Colombian Chamber of Construction (Camacol), was recognized by FIESP, the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo, Brazil, during the World Circular Economy Forum, as one of the best practices in sustainability.
The recognition came just before World Recycling Day, commemorated every May 17th, a date that reinforces the importance of adopting more sustainable production models, such as those Camacol consistently promotes through its TECC strategy.
The Circular Economy Toolkit for Construction was among the 50 most notable projects, whose descriptions were published on the Circular Economy in Industry: Best Practices website and in a special publication entitled "Circular Economy in Industry: Best Practices."
Katherine Bobadilla, Director of Productivity and Sustainability at Camacol, stated that this international recognition represents a milestone for the industry and the country. She emphasized that the TECC is not only a technical tool, but also a comprehensive commitment by the industry to transform the sector's production model and align with the principles of sustainable development . "This recognition confirms that the work we are promoting at Camacol is on the right track. Furthermore, it comes just one week after the Camacol Green Congress in Bucaramanga, where the circular economy was the centerpiece," she emphasized.
The World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) is the world's leading event on the topic. Its ninth edition was held in São Paulo and organized by Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund, in collaboration with global partners.
This year, the event focused on the potential of tropical solutions, the bioeconomy, and the role of the regenerative economy as drivers of sustainable development.
FIESP highlighted the impact of the TECC, noting that the initiative addresses one of the greatest challenges facing the construction sector in Colombia: reducing its environmental footprint and moving toward more efficient models. This project was developed with the support of the Swiss Embassy in Colombia and has established itself as a pioneering tool in Latin America .
