According to a study published in the scientific journal European Heart Journal , it seems that people who drink coffee only in the morning have a longer life expectancy and a lower chance of having a heart attack.

The study, published by the prestigious magazine, analyzed more than 40,000 people for nearly 20 years. The results indicate that drinking coffee only in the morning reduces the risk of death from cardiovascular disease and lowers the risk of premature death.

Cardiologist Aurelio Rojas has shared a video on social media detailing the healthiest time and way to drink coffee. The expert, who has nearly half a million followers on his Instagram account, refers to the study by the renowned journal to recommend drinking coffee only in the morning , specifying that "drinking coffee in the afternoon seems to alter our heart rate and the secretion of hormones that regulate our sleep, such as melatonin and cortisol, further increasing our stress levels."

The healthiest coffee

Not all coffees are suitable, nor do all have the same impact on health . Aurelio Rojas recommends coffee alone or with a splash of whole or plant-based milk without added sugar, filtered coffee or espresso (preferably boiled or Turkish coffee). Healthy adults should consume a maximum of 400 mg of caffeine per day, and try to consume this elixir before 2:00 PM (to avoid disturbing sleep).

As advice, the expert recommends avoiding adding sugar, syrups, or cream (calorie and glycemic overload), not consuming it on an empty stomach if you suffer from anxiety or gastric problems, and not consuming it in the afternoon if you suffer from insomnia or fatigue.
