He emphasized that thanks to the modifications to the administrative and medical processes approved by the Social Security Technical Council in 2024, and through the PediatrIMSS strategy, the first institutional cochlear implant surgery was held between October and December of this year, benefiting 15 girls and boys from the states of Tabasco, Querétaro, and Coahuila.

A multidisciplinary team from the High Specialty Medical Unit of the Pediatric Hospital, National Medical Center of the West, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, participated in this medical meeting, with the active participation of healthcare personnel from the same institution's Second Level Units.

The IMSS specialist stated that the Second and Third Levels of Care offer pediatric medical and surgical specialties for the care and treatment of patients receiving cochlear implants; and the First Level provides monitoring of the child's growth and development.
