The Dodgers community is coming together amid tragic news.

After relief pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife Kayla Vesia shared Nov. 7 that their baby girl Sterling Sol Vesia had died, the MLB team showed their support for the grieving couple.

In the comments section of Alex and Kayla’s Instagram post, which included a black-and-white picture of them holding their baby's hand and a statement addressing their “pain” following her Oct. 26 passing, the Dodgers’ official Instagram account wrote, “Thinking of you all and sending so much love.”

Additionally, the LA Dodger Wives, the official group for the players’ spouses, commented, “We are here for you both always.”

Chelsea Freeman, wife to Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman, also sent her condolences, writing, “Love you guys so much. I can’t stop thinking about you and your beautiful angel.”

Beyond Alex and Kayla expressing that they “cherish every second” they had with Sterling, the couple—who had announced in April that they were expecting a baby—emphasized their appreciation for the love they received in recent weeks.

"Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time," the pair wrote to the team, who announced Oct. 23 that Alex would step away from the 2025 World Series. "Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them."

Alex and Kayla also acknowledged the Dodgers’ World Series opponent the Toronto Blue Jays, who showed their love for Alex by sporting his number 51 on the side of their hats during game three, as well as the broader baseball community.

"Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support,” the Vesias continued. “We have seen ALL your messages, comments and posts. It’s brought us so much comfort."
