POLITICÓN: Heading to 2030? Luis Donaldo Colosio will launch his campaign in Coahuila.

I. TAKE ADVANTAGE
Now that the Government of the Republic has decided to turn its attention to the domestic meat market –even if it is forced to do so by the closure of the border to the export of live cattle– and President Claudia Sheinbaum is touring the border entities announcing the channeling of hundreds of millions of pesos per state, those who understand the issue well tell us that a good decision in relation to said industry would be to take advantage of the opportunity to modernize existing slaughterhouses and even build new ones , since one of the most neglected areas in terms of infrastructure is precisely this.
II. EYE
And if the idea is to direct the thousands of calves that previously went to the United States to be fattened there, then slaughtered and shipped carcassed, to the domestic market, one of the restrictions that must be taken into account, we're told, is that there aren't enough slaughterhouses to slaughter so many animals, nor are there enough facilities to pack the meat to meet the standards our neighbors demand for accepting it in their supermarkets. Is that really the case?

III. UNFORTUNATE NAME DAY
Today marks exactly one year since violence broke out in Sinaloa , a state governed—so to speak—by Morena member Rubén Rocha Moya . Everyone knows what triggered the new "war" raging in that state: the "kidnapping" and rendition of Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada to U.S. authorities, an act allegedly carried out by his own godson. Twelve months later, the death toll continues to mount—the count is over 1,800—and the number of disappearances remains the same: estimates exceed 2,000. Worst of all, the institutions responsible for security have been unable to stop the carnage.
IV. HISTORIC COUP
Amidst the chaos in Sinaloa, the Navy struck a decisive blow: it dismantled the largest laboratory in the history of the Los Mayos cartel in Durango . They seized 21 tons of methamphetamine, which would have generated 525 million doses and profits of more than 6 billion pesos. The lab operated in one of the states considered safest in the north of the country. A reminder that violence isn't always visible... but it's brewing.
V. FOUNDATION
In Mexico, when a politician wants to campaign without saying so, they usually create a foundation. Luis Donaldo Colosio was no exception : from Nueva Rosita, where his mother was born, he will launch a foundation that will bear his name and that, he said, will promote early childhood development, an act that coincides with his growing media exposure. At a press conference, he presented the project and there he spoke about health, education, and children... and yes, he also said he's running for president. Of course: first he'll have to beat Samuel , the governor of Nuevo León... Name, what a surprise!
VI. THE CLASSIC WAY
As usual, Colosio didn't directly answer whether he will be a candidate, but his message was clear enough to leave no doubt. It will start in Coahuila, but the foundation will expand to other states and municipalities. It will seek alliances with local authorities —including Manolo Jiménez —and begin operating in communities with medical, educational, and psychological services. A strategy that, as on other occasions, dresses up as a noble cause... but moves at the pace of a campaign.
VII. THEY SAY NOTHING...
We're told that confusion reigns among the University Hospital 's management following the report about the expired medication case. Director Lauro Cortés has reportedly already held a meeting with Rector Octavio Pimentel , who—we hope—understands that "damage control" isn't enough: the case demands a clear public stance and, above all, action. Ignoring the problem, saying "everything is fine," and remaining silent, as if nothing were happening, only fuels suspicion. We must remember that in public institutions , opacity can also be harmful and can even destroy trust.

VIII. MUNICIPAL DEBT
And as if any symptoms weren't enough, we learned that, in the case of the 27 million pesos the Hospital failed to collect, the institution that "benefited" from the omission is the Saltillo City Council . A figure that would be pure oxygen for any public institution. Why didn't the administration demand payment? Who authorized the forgiveness? And who will be responsible for this omission? These are questions that must be answered, even if the rector is distracted by the start of the NFL season.
IX. UNFORGIVABLE
One of the unforgivable sins of the Mexican state is its ineffectiveness in terms of access to education . That in more than two centuries of independent existence, we haven't been able to build a system that guarantees, in practice, that everyone attends school is unacceptable. But that at this point in history, we have nearly 48,000 school-age children in Coahuila who don't attend school is something that should set off alarm bells in the offices headed by Emanuel Garza Fishburn . We should ask if the previous head of the responsible department, Jorge Salcido Portillo , was even aware of the matter...
