OPPO 's Reno14 is aiming to conquer the mid-to-high-end segment, with a unique design, AI-powered cameras, the same durability as much more expensive models, and a battery that's almost double that of its competitors.
The Reno series is always difficult to classify: it's not high-end, like the OPPO Find X , but it's not mid-range either; it depends on whether we're looking at the basic model or the Pro, which is twice as expensive.
The first thing that catches your eye about this phone is its back. OPPO has created an iridescent finish, inspired by the mermaidcore aesthetic, that reflects light. The brand claims it required up to twelve coating processes to achieve this. The truth is, at first glance, it's noticeably different: a phone that seeks to stand out from the flat, more discreet tones of its competitors.
Added to this is a glass and aluminum body with IP69, IP68, and IP66 certification, meaning it can withstand virtually any circumstance, from the pool to heavy rain.
As for the display, the standard version features a 6.59-inch AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It's not the best on the market, but it fits perfectly in the range we're currently in. It also includes unusual modes like Glove Mode and Splash Touch, which allow you to use the phone with gloves or a wet screen.
The Reno14 5G features a triple-camera setup: a 50MP Sony IMX882 main sensor with optical stabilization, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 50MP periscopic telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom. The result is highly detailed photos, well-blurred portraits, and 50MP selfies that are surprisingly sharp.

Clearly, the weakest or most accessory lens is the ultra-wide-angle lens, which does its job but is overshadowed by the other two. The optical zoom, uncommon in this price range, is a highlight, perfect for portraits, although we only find it in the Pro version; that is, the F and Fs versions lack it. The camera array is accompanied by AI Flash Photo, a triple flash system that illuminates even in night scenes where other phones fail to do so.
In terms of artificial intelligence, the big new feature of this release is Livephoto Pro, which turns each capture into a sort of 2K resolution mini-video that can be shared directly to Instagram, something that was previously limited to Apple only.
The MediaTek Dimensity 8350 processor in the Reno14 F and Fs, and the Dimensity 8450 in the Pro or 5G, offer more than enough performance for demanding games and multitasking, accompanied by up to 16 GB of RAM. In daily use, everything moves smoothly, and ColorOS 15 feels lighter and more polished than ever, although on the downside, it comes with a fair amount of bloatware, i.e., apps that you'll have to uninstall.
The 6,000mAh battery is another of the Reno14's strong points. In our tests, the battery life was just over two days. Plus, with 80W fast charging on the more expensive model, going from 0% to 100% takes less than an hour.
The OPPO Reno14 5G series is a clear example of how what was previously only found in phones over 1,000 euros—such as IP69 resistance, optical zoom, and two-day battery life—is now available in a device that costs almost half that price. The problem for OPPO is that, in this price range, there's a lot of competition. The device is available at prices starting at 599 euros.
