Around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, a traffic accident occurred on Avenue des Droits de l'Enfant, in Boulazac-Isle-Manoire, between the Mémoire and Lamoura roundabouts. A first car, driven by a 44-year-old woman, who was traveling towards Saint-Laurent-sur-Manoire from Boulazac, veered to the left following a careless error and struck a car driven by a 66-year-old man on its left rear fender, tearing off the man's wheel in the process. As it was moving, the striking vehicle collided with a third car, driven by a 22-year-old pregnant woman. The young woman, who was seriously injured, had to be extricated and rushed to hospital, according to our information.
The victim's spleen was removed and an emergency cesarean delivery was performed. The newborn was immediately airlifted to Bordeaux Hospital after being in cardiac arrest for 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the baby did not survive and died. Three days after the accident, the young woman remains in critical condition and in intensive care. An investigation is still ongoing.
