Thunderstorms: orange alert for eleven departments in the center and east from Saturday afternoon

Eleven departments in the Centre and East will be placed on orange alert from 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, due to the risk of thunderstorms, according to the latest bulletin from Météo-France: Allier, Puy-de-Dôme, Loire, Rhône, Nièvre, Saône-et-Loire, Yonne, Côte-d'Or, Haute-Marne, Aube, and Marne. The Meuse and Meurthe-et-Moselle will join them during the night from Saturday to Sunday.
"In the second half of the afternoon this Saturday, thunderstorms will break out in the north of the Massif Central and then move towards the northeast during the evening and night. These storms could be violent," said the meteorological agency, which forecasts hail, strong gusts of wind, heavy waves of water in a short time and strong electrical activity.
On Sunday morning, in addition to the departments of Haute-Marne, Aube and Marne, the orange alert will also affect Meuse and Meurthe-et-Moselle, while the departments of the Centre will be downgraded to yellow alert.
Four departments in the North, previously on orange alert, have been downgraded to yellow alert. Twenty-eight departments in the Southwest and Northwest of the country were placed on orange alert on Friday afternoon due to "stormy deterioration," with a high risk of locally violent phenomena.
The French Civil Aviation Authority had asked airlines to reduce their flight schedules by 20% at Orly Airport on Friday evening to limit possible disruptions.
